The Jaya Bremer Quintet
The Jaya Bremer Quintet is a Victoria, BC-based jazz group. Influenced by the European jazz style of Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grappelli, their performances offer a fresh take on familiar jazz standards, and bring a wonderful ambiance to a multitude of venues. They perform with two guitars - in true gypsy jazz fashion - an upright bass, a clarinet/accordion, and vocals. Refreshingly unique and fun, the nostalgic sound of The Jaya Bremer Quintet will take you on a journey to a time when gypsy jazz permeated the European music landscape of the 1930’s.
A medium-length story made short, indie-rock band Wise Child was born out of one legendary night at the Copper Owl in 2014. Newly a five-piece; the band has developed their own variety of driving melodic indie-pop. At the forefront of their sound is lead singer Jaya Bremers lush expressive alto, which is alternately contrasted and supported by Roger Eldgridges melodic electric guitar lines. Their music will resonate with lovers of such artists as Feist, Land of Talk, the War on Drugs and Beach House. They are about release their debut record “Lucky You” which was recorded at the Noise Floor studio on Gabriola Island. Wise Child has shared the stage with such northwest acts as Carseat Headrest, Germany Germany and Hawk & Steel. Following performances at local venues and festivals, the band is gearing up for an eventful Fall with an epic E.P release show, and a western Canadian tour.
The Patsy Cline Tribute Band
The Patsy Cline Tribute Band is a victoria based traditional country band-namely music made popular by Patsy Cline. It is a 7-piece group, but can also perform as a 4 piece for ease of travel or stage size restrictions. They were brought together by their shared love of old country music and a desire to pay homage to such a legend. They have sold out shows, and continued to have a considerable draw and a dedicated fan-base. The group brings incredible energy and authenticity to their performance.
