The Jaya Bremer Quintet
The Jaya Bremer Quintet is a Victoria, BC-based jazz group. Influenced by the European jazz style of Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grappelli, their performances offer a fresh take on familiar jazz standards, and bring a wonderful ambiance to a multitude of venues. They perform with two guitars - in true gypsy jazz fashion - an upright bass, a clarinet/accordion, and vocals. Refreshingly unique and fun, the nostalgic sound of The Jaya Bremer Quintet will take you on a journey to a time when gypsy jazz permeated the European music landscape of the 1930’s.
Wise Child
At the forefront of Wise Child’s driving, blend of indie-pop is lead singer Jaya Bremer’s lush, expressive voice, contrasted and supported by Roger Eldridge’s melodic electric guitar. Wise Child’s debut EP Lucky You was self-released in October, 2016. Wise Child was named Vancouver Island’s top 10 for CBC Searchlight 2017, they won music video of the year for their single “Get Ugly” and were named Victoria’s top bands on the rise by Do250. They have played local festivals Song & Surf, Fernfest and Phillips Backyard Weekender. They have shared the stage with Western Canadian acts Carseat Headrest, Morning Show, 36?, Windego, Bedside, Fortune Killers, and Germany Germany. They recently toured BC and Alberta and recently released their first full length album. Recorded at The Hive Studio with Colin Stewart (The New Pornographers, Yukon Blonde, Black Mountain). Which will be released this spring! Their music will resonate with lovers of such artists as Feist, Land of Talk, Alvvays, Deerhunter and the War on Drugs.
